Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) heads to Qatar with two consecutive double wins under his belt from the Rounds at Magny-Cours and Jerez. After his success, the Welshman is ready to resume action at Losail for the closing Round of the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. Davies has won 5 of the last 6 races and will attempt to continue his impressive streak in order to overtake Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), who currently sits in second overall. The Welshman is just 19 points away from the runner-up spot and knows it’s just within his grasp provided he continues on his winning form.

“It’s the last race of the year, but in some ways I wish the season had just started given that we have obtained such good results lately,” said Davies. “We were a bit late to the party, but we need to look forward. Last year, in Qatar, we managed to be quite competitive and took a second place, which was OK. We have more horsepower now, which should help us in the long straight. Racing at night is always something different and fun. We need to bridge the 19-point gap from second place in the championship, and I believe there will be more riders in the mix at this Round. History shows anything can happen in racing, so why not? We can only do what we’ve been doing in the last few races, and then do the math.”

His Ducati teammate Davide Giugliano, heads to Qatar with renewed optimism for the final Round. After two previous difficult rounds which saw him battle with a right-shoulder injury, the Italian is eager to get back on track and step on the podium once again, to seal his three-year tenure with the team in the best possible way.

“I head to Qatar in better physical conditions compared with Jerez,” said Giugliano. “We made progress with the physiotherapy program, and earlier this week I was able to be fast and consistent while training on a motard, even though some pain still remains. The Losail circuit has a very flowing nature, which theoretically should make it easier for us than at the past couple of rounds, and I definitely enjoy riding there. Last year I didn’t race due to injury, but during my first outing in Qatar in 2014 I got pole position. In the races we struggled a bit with top speed, but the Panigale R is much more competitive now. My first goal is to leave my team with two strong performances. We share many beautiful memories, especially with all the hard work we’ve done together to develop the bike throughout these years.”

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati squad will be back on track on Friday 28^th of October for their first outings of the final Round of the season.
